1 Introduction
The Bangladesh Journal of Applied Research & Development (JARD) is an international, peer-reviewed, English-language scientific journal published biannually by SARD BD. The journal provides a platform for researchers, clinicians, and public health practitioners to publish original, evidence-based research relevant to applied sciences and development studies in Bangladesh and beyond.
Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Acceptance of manuscripts is subject to editorial review and peer review. The Editor reserves the right to make editorial modifications without altering the scientific content of the manuscript. Upon acceptance, copyright of the article shall be transferred to JARD.
ICMJE Compliance: Authors should follow the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for manuscript preparation and submission.
2 Types of Manuscripts
JARD accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

3 Publication Charges (APC)

The APC becomes payable only after final acceptance of the manuscript. There is no submission fee.

- Payment details will be communicated by the Editorial Office upon acceptance
- Fee waivers may be considered on a case-by-case basis for authors from low-income countries
4 Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
Editorial decisions are based on:
- Scientific merit — quality and rigor of the research methodology
- Originality — novelty and contribution to existing knowledge
- Methodological quality — soundness of study design and analysis
- Ethical compliance — adherence to ethical standards
- Relevance — importance to the journal's scope
Review timeline: Authors can expect an initial editorial decision within 4–6 weeks of submission.
5 Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be prepared according to the following formatting specifications:
Important: All sections should begin on a separate page. Author names and affiliations must NOT appear in the manuscript body (double-blind review).
6 Standard Manuscript Structure
Original Research Articles must follow this standard structure (each section on a new page):

7 Title Page
The title page should contain:
- Full title of the manuscript (concise and informative, generally not exceeding 60 characters)
- Names of all authors (first name, middle initial, last name)
- Institutional affiliations for each author
- Academic qualifications of each author
- Corresponding author's name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address
- Running title (abbreviated title, maximum 50 characters)
8 Abstract & Keywords
📄 Original Research Articles
Structured abstract with four headings:
Background — context and rationale
Methods — study design and procedures
Results — key findings
Conclusion — implications
Maximum: 300 words
📋 Review Articles & Case Reports
Unstructured abstract — concise narrative summary without subheadings.
Maximum: 250 words (Review), 200 words (Case Report)
Note: References should not be cited in the abstract.
Keywords: Provide 3–6 keywords immediately after the abstract. Keywords should be arranged alphabetically, use standard scientific terminology, and preferably follow Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).
9 Methods, Ethics & Drugs
The Methods section should clearly describe:
- Study design and setting
- Study population, inclusion and exclusion criteria
- Sampling procedures and sample size calculation
- Data collection methods and instruments
- Variables, measurements, and statistical analysis methods
- Ethical approval (committee name and approval number)
Ethical Approval (Human Studies): Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must state that: (1) ethical approval was obtained from a recognized Ethics Review Committee; and (2) written informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians. The Editorial Board reserves the right to request documentation supporting ethical approval.
Animal Research: Studies involving animals must include the name and approval number of the approving ethics committee and a statement regarding animal welfare compliance.
Legal & Ethical Considerations: Authors must ensure patient confidentiality and privacy. Patient names, initials, hospital numbers, photographs, or other identifying information must not be included unless written informed consent has been obtained. Permission must be secured for reproduction of previously published tables, figures, or illustrations.
Drug Information: Drugs should be identified by their generic names. Proprietary names may be included in parentheses where appropriate. Dosage, route of administration, and duration of treatment should be clearly described.
Results: Results should be presented logically using text, tables, and figures. Do not duplicate data across multiple formats. Statistical methods and significance levels should be reported clearly.
Discussion: The discussion should interpret findings, compare them with existing literature, discuss strengths and limitations, explain public health or clinical implications, and present conclusions supported by evidence. Unsubstantiated claims should be avoided.

References must follow the Vancouver Citation Style. References should be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the text.
